Robbie J. Gaines, Jr.
Robbie entered private practice focusing on general and automotive liability following a Judicial Clerkship in the Third Judicial Court of Michigan with the Honorable Leslie Kim Smith. Robbie has worked on a wide range of civil cases with complex procedural and substantive legal issues. He has experience in no-fault, premises liability, medical malpractice, employment law and civil rights litigation.
While in law school, Robbie served on the Law Review, Moot Court Board of Advocates, Midwest Journal of Law & Policy and participated in the American Inns of Court. He also served as President of the Black Law Students Association, President of the American Constitution Society, and as Class Representative of the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law School’s Student Bar Association.

Successfully argued Motion for Summary Disposition in no-fault PIP case, where judge agreed with the defendant-insurer that the alleged injured party unlawfully took the vehicle she was operating on the date of loss; therefore, she (and her providers) were excluded from collecting PIP benefits from the defendant-insurer. Robbie is actively involved in a number of Detroit-based programs which help develop young students who are interested in pursuing a career in the legal field, including the Metropolitan Detroit High School Law & Leadership Program, the Cass Technical High School Moot Court Program and the General Motors Street Law Program.
