Successfully defended a municipal international airport against a premises liability claim. The claim was settled for a fraction of the plaintiff’s claim.
Successfully defended a local school district in a sports injury case where the Plaintiff claimed millions of dollars in damages. The claim resulted in a five-figure settlement.
Defended a utility company against a property damage claim brought by several local businesses. After several bouts of negotiations, the claim was resolved for less than half of what the businesses claimed.
Defended a prominent mall in Metro Detroit against a discrimination claim and vicarious liability claim based on alleged assault and battery by the security officers. Due to our aggressive defense and willingness to try the case, we were able to get a nondisclosure agreement and settled the case for a nominal amount.
Defended an auto insurance company client in a case where the injured party insured her vehicle in another state when the vehicle was titled and registered in Michigan. Through aggressive discovery, we were able to procure voluntary dismissal of Plaintiff’s claim for over $100,000.
Defended an auto insurance company against a negligence claim where an individual was involved in an accident while riding a bicycle. Our aggressive discovery tactics, including obtaining traffic signal records from a road commission and toxicology records, uncovered information that enabled us to file a dispositive motion for contributory negligence. Prior to the motion being heard, the Plaintiff agreed to accept less than five percent of his claimed damages to resolve the matter.
Successfully argued Motion for Summary Disposition in no-fault PIP case, where the judge agreed with the defendant-insurer that the alleged injured party unlawfully took the vehicle she was operating on the date of loss; therefore, she (and her providers) were excluded from collecting PIP benefits from the defendant-insurer.
