Collins Einhorn Farrell PC is pleased to announce that Colleen H. Burke has been elected President of the Association of Defense Trial Counsel. As President, Colleen aims to use her legal expertise to provide insight and support to the organization and foster increased membership and continuous improvement.
The purpose of the ADTC is to connect lawyers in southeastern Michigan who primarily represent insurance companies and other corporate defendants in damage suits and other litigation. The ADTC seeks to promote efficiency in this branch of the legal profession, to act as a unit in dealing with common problems, and to better serve the general interests of the clients of the members.
In addition to this notable advancement, Colleen was also recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers. The APRL seeks to advise lawyers on legal ethics issues, defend lawyers in discipline matters or civil malpractice cases, act as expert witnesses, teach professional responsibility courses in law schools, and perform ethics-related functions in law firms.
As a partner at Collins Einhorn Farrell, Colleen has extensive defense litigation experience and focuses her practice in professional liability, including defending lawyers in legal malpractice cases, defending lawyers in grievance matters with the Attorney Grievance Commission, and defending judges in matters brought by the Judicial Tenure Commission. She has also represented accountants, land surveyors, and real estate brokers. Colleen also has experience in insurance coverage work, premises liability, product liability, and employment law. She has represented a wide range of clients, including a national sump pump and small tool manufacturer, and an international retail chain. Colleen’s experience has included analyzing pre-litigation claims, providing resolution opinions, and litigating cases to trial.
Colleen has made a notable impact in the legal community through her involvement with many associations and groups. In addition to her role as president of the ADTC, Colleen has also served as Board Member and Secretary. She is also actively involved in the Oakland County Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Oakland County Inns of Court, and the State Bar of Michigan Negligence and Employment Section and Representative Assembly.
