Summary
Jan represents employers and other defendants in employment, professional liability, and general liability actions. Her employment defense practice encompasses both private and public sector employee claims (including claims arising from municipal and school employment) in state and federal court. She also represents employers in administrative proceedings before the EEOC, Michigan Department of Civil Rights and Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency. Representing municipalities in matters including civil rights claims is another segment of Jan’s practice. Defending social services agencies which operate state-licensed programs, including residential facilities, has also comprised an ongoing aspect of Jan’s defense work. Jan has successfully tried many employment, general liability, and municipal liability cases in state and federal court. She has also prevailed on numerous dispositive motions over her years of practice.
