On November 23, 2011, Collins Einhorn attorney, Richard Joslin, obtained summary judgment on behalf of his (nurse) client, in a civil rights case in the United States District Court for the W.D. of Michigan. Rick represented a nurse practitioner who was in charge of medical care at the Benzie County jail. After an inmate committed suicide, the inmate’s estate filed suit alleging that our nurse and the jail personnel violated the inmate’s civil rights by being deliberately indifferent to the inmate’s serious medical needs. At the close of discovery, we moved for summary judgment on the nurse’s behalf on the basis that her care did not rise to the level of a constitutional violation. The court agreed and dismissed her from the case. The judge denied the jail personnel’s motion and the case will proceed to trial as to them.
