Benjamin P. Rizza

Summary

Ben’s path to the law wasn’t traditional—it began with curiosity. What started as an interest in understanding how the legal system worked led him to enroll in paralegal courses at Oakland University. Before long, Ben realized that if he could tackle those courses, he could handle law school—and he was right. Driven by a love for logic and problem-solving, he pursued his J.D. at Wayne State University Law School, where he was awarded an Academic Merit Scholarship and served as an editor for the Wayne Law Review.

Ben’s practice focuses on defense litigation, including insurance defense, wrongful death, contract disputes, and premises liability. What he enjoys most about his work is the challenge of navigating complex issues and finding clear, strategic solutions for his clients. His thoughtful approach and persistence have led to multiple victories, including case-dispositive motions in high-stakes disputes involving breach of contract, fraud, and no-fault insurance claims.

Clients and colleagues alike describe Ben as optimistic, affable, and resilient—someone who brings both diligence and approachability to every matter. His time living and working in Japan for three years shaped not only his perspective but also his appreciation for discipline and cultural nuance. Proficient in Japanese and endlessly curious, Ben continues to study the language, travel abroad, and is learning to play piano in his spare time.

For Ben, success as an attorney goes beyond courtroom victories—it’s about continuously learning, enjoying the process, and providing a meaningful life for his family through work he finds deeply fulfilling.
