Summary

Lanita Carter is an attorney dedicated to making the law accessible, compassionate, and empowering for the people it serves. She became a lawyer with one core mission: to remove the fear and confusion that many individuals experience when navigating the legal system. Guided by clarity, empathy, and a deep commitment to justice, she strives to ensure every client feels understood, supported, and equipped to make informed decisions.

Before transitioning to insurance defense and professional liability, Lanita served as an Oakland County Assistant Prosecutor, where she developed strong skills in litigation, case evaluation, and strategic advocacy. Those experiences taught her how to navigate complex issues with precision and empathy-qualities that continue to define her approach to defense work today.

In her current practice, Lanita is focused on expanding her expertise in insurance defense and professional liability. She is energized by the strategic nature of these fields—mastering coverage issues, evaluating risk, analyzing professional-standards claims, and developing practical, result strategies for her clients. Known for being genuine, direct, and compassionate, she brings professionalism, diligence, and sound judgment to every matter.

Outside the office, volunteering her time at multiple bar association’s events, mentoring, spending time with her family, bowling (trying to get perfect score), or tackling DIY projects around the house. She also loves listening to audiobooks, especially memoirs, and John Grisham’s novels.
