Matt Brauer brings decades of experience and a results-driven approach to a wide-ranging civil litigation practice. He has successfully represented clients in matters involving personal injury, employment disputes, public housing, civil rights, whistleblower claims, motor vehicle accidents, and professional liability. His clients have included governmental agencies, employers, landlords, private businesses, and individuals—each benefiting from his strategic legal insight and unwavering advocacy.
Matt’s litigation experience spans all phases of the legal process—from pretrial discovery and motion practice to bench and jury trials, as well as appeals in both state and federal courts. He is also well-versed in alternative dispute resolution. He has handled arbitrations and unfair labor practice proceedings with skill and efficiency. Outside the courtroom, Matt advises governmental bodies and private sector organizations on employment law, labor relations, and risk management. He has led labor negotiations and collective bargaining efforts across a variety of industries.
Matt is a former director of the Association of Defense Trial Counsel and a current hearing panelist for the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board. A frequent speaker, he has delivered legal seminars and training sessions for attorneys, risk managers, and insurance professionals in Washington D.C., Michigan, Vermont, Ohio, and Connecticut. His leadership roots go back to his time in school, where he served as student government vice president in college and later as the director of his law school’s moot court program.
Outside of his legal work, Matt enjoys traveling with his wife Amy and spending quality time with their two adult children.
