Nineteen Collins Einhorn Farrell PC Attorneys Recognized by Super Lawyers

Collins Einhorn Farrell PC announced today that 15 of its attorneys have been named to the 2016 Michigan Super Lawyers list. An additional four attorneys from Collins Einhorn were named to the 2016 Michigan Rising Stars list.

Michael J. Sullivan Named the Best Lawyers® “Lawyer of the Year” in Detroit for the Fifth Time

Collins Einhorn Farrell PC President Michael J. Sullivan has been recognized by Best Lawyers as the 2017 Professional Malpractice Law – Defendants “Lawyer of the Year” in Metro Detroit. This is the fifth time Sullivan has been designated as a “Lawyer of the Year.” He has been recognized as such in the field of Professional Malpractice law in 2011, 2013, and 2017, in addition to having been named the “Lawyer of the Year” in the field of Legal Malpractice Law in 2012 and 2014. Sullivan is also one of eleven attorneys within the firm who have been listed in The Best Lawyers in America© 2017. This also marks the seventh year in a row that a Collins Einhorn lawyer has been named the “Lawyer of the Year” in the fields of either Professional Malpractice Law or Legal Malpractice Law. Sullivan has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for the past eight consecutive years.

Court Grants Motion for Summary Disposition in Wayne County Circuit Court in Premises Liability Claim

Attorneys Deborah A. Lujan and Kari L. Melkonian won summary disposition in favor of defendant party supply store in a premises liability action arising out of a trip and fall over a hanger. The Court dismissed plaintiff’s complaint against the store owner with prejudice finding that the hanger was an open and obvious hazard and thus no duty was owed to plaintiff under the circumstances.

CEF Founder Mort Collins to Receive Oakland County Bar Association Distinguished Career Achievement Award

Collins Einhorn Farrell PC is proud to announce that firm founder Morton H. Collins has been selected to receive the Oakland County Bar Association’s Distinguished Career Achievement Award. The OCBA Distinguished Career Achievement Award was established in 2001 to recognize an attorney whose career exemplifies extraordinary achievement in the ideals of the profession throughout the active legal career of the recipient. The OCBA Distinguished Career Achievement Award will be presented to Mort Collins at the 82nd Annual Meeting of the Oakland County Bar Association on June 2, 2016.

Collins Einhorn Farrell PC is proud to be celebrating its 45th anniversary in 2016. The history of Collins Einhorn Farrell PC can be traced back to a small office in Southfield, Michigan in 1971, opened by a young yet already established attorney named Morton Collins. Collins had a vision of creating an environment where lawyers were supported, encouraged, and given an opportunity to develop their own practice and areas of specialty, all while keeping the customers’ best interests in mind. This attracted attorneys such as Brian Einhorn, who joined the practice that year, and Clay Farrell, who joined in 1973. Working together, they continued to set a standard for quality service to their clients and the community…

Donald D. Campbell to Serve on Ad Hoc Committee on Alternative Billing Structures

Attorney Donald D. Campbell has been selected by State Bar of Michigan President Lori Buiteweg to serve on an Ad Hoc Committee on Alternative Billing Structures. The committee will be considering alternative fee arrangements and ways to clarify obligations required by MRPC 1.5, including proposed amendments to the rule and the comments, a possible definitional section, and other constructive ways to provide further ethics guidance to SBM members regarding fee arrangements. Don was counsel for Patricia Cooper in the Michigan Supreme Court case that authorized non-refundable retainers, GA v Cooper, 482 Mich 1079 (2008).
